Russell James is the tintypist behind Silver Stained Tintypes, where portraits are made slowly, by hand, and with intention. Working in the photographic process invented in the 1850s, he creates photos on metal that last for generations. Each tintype is a singular object—no negatives, no copies— made right there for you to take home. A reminder that real photographs are made, not just taken.
